WordPress 4.1 is around the corner. Beta 1 is already out since last week and I’m hoping to have WordPress 4.1 final version available by early December.
I’ve just downloaded BETA-1 version today on my Local Mac OS X and so far like the new changes. Just in case if you want to setup WordPress on Mac OS X. WordPress 4.1 comes with lots of new changes, under the hood improvements, default new Twenty Fifteen theme? You need WordPress Beta Tester plugin in order to upgrade to latest BETA.
Let me share my thoughts.
Twenty Fifteen New Default WordPress Theme
Very simple, mobile-first version of new WordPress’s default theme. With careful attention to typography, the theme treats text as a major part of the user interface. Theme also honors lots of under the hood improvements like customizer
options, custom header, custom background etc.
Well Focused – Distraction Free New WordPress Editor Mode
Install language pack from Admin Panel – May not useful for most of us
Once you select
a language and click Save Changes
then WordPress will automatically download and install that language for you.
Better Image Formatting Options in side Editor – I loved it
Inside an editor now if you mouse hover on an image then you will see below options immediately on top of an image.
Options includes:
- Align Left
- Align Right
- Align Center
- No Alignment
- Edit
- Remove
Other under the hood enhancements for developers
There are lots of enhancements went into date, meta, taxonomy queries, comments under the hood implementations. Bunch of other implementations also included into Customizer APIs. These are very good and welcomed enhancements for developers.
